The thermal method would require special machinery to catch the steam of the boiled saline water, which is expensive and will require special maintenance. The high temperatures at which the machinery is operating increases likelihood of the machine to corrode, meaning the machines must be of high quality. But, among the thermal method, Eutectic method was introduced. The Eutectic Freeze crystallisation method operates on lowering the temperatures for saline water below freezing point. The water freezes and the salts crystallise. “The purest form of water is in solid state”. The advantage of EFC method is that it uses less energy, operational energy costs are then minimised. The corrosion likelihood is decreased meaning even cheap machinery may be used.

The two solid phases can be easily distinguished by gravity meaning no chemicals are involved the density of water in solid phase is lower than of salts, therefore the salts are more likely to sink to the bottom of the machinery while the water remain floating. As much as both methods help in provision of the current need which is water, the negative impact caused during the operation process of transforming the saline and contaminated water simultaneously introduces more problems to the city. The membrane desalination method makes use of special filters to produce desalinated water. However as much that seems quite simple and more environmental friendly, it is not. Through the filters some suspended components pass through. Eventually the treated water would need more treatment. The water would then require some chemicals to breakdown the suspensions. The chemicals used evaporate and increase the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere leading to global warming- the increased temperature of the city, meaning there would be more evaporation to the water bodies meaning the problem was not solved but intensified.
