Samsung and Apple are considered as the two of the greatest electronics manufacturing companies throughout the decades

Samsung and Apple are considered as the two of the greatest electronics manufacturing companies throughout the decades (and the biggest rivalry amongst all of the companies too). The two companies were continuously compared with all sorts of electronics from phones, laptops, and tablet PCs with each other. Then, there was a phone that would start another argument amongst “Samsung-heads” and “Apple-heads” and this phone was the Galaxy S3 that was released few months ago and well, was apple trying to answer back? The iPhone 5 was released just about a week ago. These two phones will create huge amounts of discussions and there will be tons of articles featuring the clash between the two phones in the internet. But all of the rivalry aside, we will be looking at what makes these two phones “compete with each other” looking at the subtle differences and also similarities that may be causing the argument amongst the Samsung and Apple customers.

The first differences between the two phones are the size. The size of a phone is really important for a phone because when it comes to mobile phones, it all comes down to how portable the phone is, and if the size of the phone really looks like a phone (i.e. to make sure you are not looking like using a huge phone with a size of an iPad to call someone). Apple, have came with a whole new idea of making the screen and the phone itself longer but not a lot thicker or wider. This was a great innovative thinking because when apple have introduced this idea, they said they wanted a phone that would fit right in the customers hand so they can use it with one had when needed and was more portable for the customers. But on the other hand, the Samsung galaxy s3 4.8 inch wide screen have caused confusions from the “phone geeks” and they have said they didn’t understand why Samsung would make a phone this big. But, if there is a weird part, there is always a key to it, and it was that because Samsung has the 4.8 inch wide screen, the phone was easily used to watch movies and also browse the web pages much more easily. But Apple was always right and it was from the idea of using the phone more portably and apple’s 4 inch screen-ed phone was much more portable than the Samsung phone that was huge compared to the Apple’s iPhone.

Another difference between the two phone is also in the outer part and it is the back screen plate and it is because, Apple also took another huge step in the back plate this year too and it was by replacing the glass back plate as they used in the iPhone 4/4s, with a anodized aluminum back plate which was more “fingerprint-proof” than the glass plate. But there was also a huge down side because of this, and it was that they were really sensitive to scratches therefore, Apple sure did avoid having fingerprints all around the phone, but they were now facing a bigger problem of the scratching problems. On the other hand, Samsung has used the old generic plastic-like back plate for the new Samsung Galaxy s3 but, the advantages were that it was much more “fingerprint-proof” and “scratch-proof”, but a disadvantage they had to face was that it was less “sleek” looking than the iPhone 5 with the aluminum back plate.

In technology-wise, the Samsung and Apple didn’t have much differences because the mega pixels of the cameras on both phones were off charts and had about 10 mega pixels difference from each other which is not a big difference. They also have big similarities in the processing speed but Samsung got a little faster time than Apple for the processing speeds. But one big software similarities between the two phones are the voice recognition system that was added in Samsung and that was introduced to the Apple customers when the iPhone 4s was made. When Apple customers called this exclusive feature “Siri” the Samsung customers called it “S-voice”. The way the two picked up the customers voice and do different things according to the commands given by the owner was a revolutionary idea, and it is said that there aren’t a lot of differences in how well they pick up the user’s voice because they both were pretty amazing.

The last most crucial difference between the two phones is how we get music and movies from the computer. This is because, we can easily use Samsung’s micro SD card to export and import movies through our computers, but Apple has not been using it since the start of the “iPhone line” which made it harder for the customers to do that because apple users always had to download itunes which is a program in where you can ex-port and import movies from there. But for the Samsung Galaxy S3 you can easily export and import files because it can just be done by taking out the micro SD card from the phone, plug it to the computer, and do your job. But this also leads to a big similarity, and it is how you get apps and download apps. For Samsung users, you can download apps and buy apps from either the “Samsung Key store” or the “Google app store”, but for the Apple product users, as I said before they must use the “itunes” which is downloadable from the apple’s web page. The price of the two phones hugely differs because the Apple iPhone 5 has been released as being 35,000 baht for 16 giga byte iPhone 5 and 43,000 baht for the 32 giga byte iPhone 5 which is extremely expensive compared with the 20,000 baht Samsung Galaxy s3.

The two phones have often created huge amounts of arguments and are still arguing right now in Apple’s patent of “Slide to unlock” system that is shown in the home start page of all the Apple phones. “Rivalry adds so much to the charms of one’s conquests” Louisa May Alcott once said and this is absolutely true in this situation too because the rivalries and feuds amongst Apple and Samsung may often turn out to be ugly, but as time passes, they will soon realize that the rivalry between each other will keep on making each other take it to the next level and to create better products. Samsung and Apple are two companies that look like they are the companies with biggest differences, and companies that want to destroy each other in ashes but guess what? If you look closely, they can also be considered brothers challenging each other to take it to the next level.
